Who's Behind TalkTinker?

TalkTinker is run by speech therapist Marie Laxell in collaboration with Laxell Consulting Ltd. Marie is a licensed speech-language therapist from Finland, specialized in stroke rehabilitation, brain injuries, and degenerative diseases. Drawing on her extensive clinical experience, she recognized the challenges of finding and creating therapy materials that are both motivating and visually engaging for different individuals. TalkTinker was born from this practical need, with the mission of providing an effective and user-friendly image bank tool for therapy professionals.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 April 2026.

This Privacy Policy applies to TalkTinker.com and the TalkTinker mobile app for iOS and Android.

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible, while still providing a reliable service.

What we collect - Account data: your name, email address, and basic account/subscription information. - User-generated content: activities, folders, and names you give your materials. Stored against your account so you can return to them later. - Usage data: how you use TalkTinker (e.g. feature usage, clicks, errors). This helps us improve the product. - Technical data: device/browser details and approximate location (derived from IP) as part of standard web/app requests and analytics. - Camera (mobile app only): the TalkTinker mobile app uses the camera to scan QR codes for joining live sessions. Camera images are processed on-device and never transmitted or stored. - Microphone: TalkTinker uses the microphone in the volume meter and similar voice activities to read sound levels in real time. Audio is processed locally on your device and is never recorded, transmitted, or stored.

How we use your data - To provide the service (login, subscriptions, saving your work). - To keep TalkTinker secure and prevent abuse. - To understand what’s working and what needs improvement (using privacy-friendly, EU-hosted analytics).

Legal basis (GDPR) - Contract: to provide the service you have signed up for. - Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure and to improve it. - Consent: where applicable, for optional analytics. You may withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.

Cookies and tracking We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies: - Essential cookies: required to keep you signed in and to maintain your session. These are strictly necessary for TalkTinker to function. - Preference cookies: used to remember your language/locale and a few UI choices (e.g. grid view, style filter). - Analytics: we use PostHog (EU-hosted, routed through our own subdomain) for privacy-friendly product analytics. PostHog helps us understand which features are used and where the product can be improved. It does not perform cross-site tracking.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertising networks.

Sharing / processors (we don’t sell your data) We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers (“processors”) to run TalkTinker: - PostHog (EU instance): product analytics — usage events and feature interactions, associated with your account when you are signed in. - Paddle: payment processing and subscription management for web purchases only (Merchant of Record). Paddle is not used in the mobile app. - Ably: realtime messaging for live sessions. When you host a live session, activity state (e.g. bingo marks, memory moves) is routed through Ably to participants. Participants join with only a 6-digit PIN and no personal data is collected from them. - Hosting/infrastructure providers needed to operate the service. These providers process data on our behalf and only for the purposes described above.

Your rights (GDPR) You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data. You can delete your account from your dashboard on the web, or in the TalkTinker mobile app under Settings → Delete account. When you delete your account, your user-generated content (activities, folders) is deleted with it. You can also ask us to stop processing your analytics/usage data.

Retention - Inactive accounts without an active subscription are automatically deleted after 2 years of inactivity. - Analytics events are retained for up to 24 months from the date of collection. - User-generated content (activities, folders) is retained for as long as your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.

Where data is stored We aim to store data within the EU and use EU-friendly providers where possible. PostHog analytics are processed on the EU instance. Some processors may handle data outside the EU with appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses).

Children’s privacy TalkTinker is intended for adult professionals, educators, and parents. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Materials generated with TalkTinker may be used with children, but joining a live session (e.g. via PIN) does not require a child to create an account or provide personal information.

Changes to this policy We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email before taking effect.

8) Suspension and termination We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you are violating these Terms or misusing the service. You can delete your account from your dashboard.
